Shakti has been a vital part of the annual Los Angeles Rath Yatra Festival of Chariots since 1977. On this auspicious day Lord Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra take their annual trip, or Yatra. A procession of three 40-foot-tall chariots parade through Santa Monica and Venice Beach Boardwalk. Adding to the spectacle, Shakti’s dancers present Bharata Natyam dances on a specially designated stage at Venice Beach, continuing a tradition of enriching the Rath Yatra festivities in Los Angeles.
