My Arangetram will take place September 7th at 4:00 PM. It will be held at the James Armstrong Theater in Torrance (Address: 3330 Civic Center Dr, Torrance, CA 90503). Snacks will be served before the show from 3:00-3:30.
My dance journey began when I was 6 years old. We lived in Massachusetts back then. I took classes at my local dance studio, Dancer’s Workshop, where I learned jazz, ballet, and tap. The first time I saw Bharatanatyam on the stage was at an Arangetram. The performer danced very well and I was impressed by her grace and stamina. I immediately asked my mom to switch me to Bharatnatyam. The next year, I started learning under Ms. Meena Subramanyam and continued learning from her for two more years until my family and I moved to Los Angeles. In L.A., I wanted to continue learning and my mom found the Shakti School of Dance founded by Viji Aunty. For the last 6 years, I have been learning Bharatanatyam from Viji Aunty and I am excitedly looking forward to my Arangetram. I am now heading into my Senior year of high school as an aspiring engineer who is able to keep dance as a major part of her life. I am so grateful for the privilege of sharing this unique art form with everyone at my Arangetram.
